It was interesting checking out the Asian bed today - the Japanese lantern is in good nick and the several of the surrounding camellias are flowering beautifully.
We are adding to our succulent collection - it will be some time before the plants are ready for sale though.
The bulbs in the Friends' bed seem not to have had the strength to power through 6" of wood mulch - or, at least, there's no sign of successful growth. But this dichroa is starting to flower and will look gorgeous.
The Friends of the St Kilda Botanic Gardens Inc was established to sustain the bond between the St Kilda Botanical Gardens and surrounding community. Projects include maintenance and restoration of these heritage gardens by encouraging community members to become involved in the gardens and participate in activities including hands-on gardening, social events, skills building, fund-raising and advocacy.
On 16 November the Friends will celebrate the anniversary of these Gardens with a community picnic.
